High-Tech Crime Unit

HTCU Mission Statement

The mission of the Allen County High-Tech Crime Unit (HTCU) is to provide neutral and objective analysis and processing of digital evidence in criminal cases.

About the HTCU

The Allen County HTCU was formed in April 2022, with the goal of assisting nine northeast Indiana counties with digital evidence processing and analysis. The following counties fall under the HTCU's jurisdiction: Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, LeGrange, Noble, Stueben, Wells, and Whitley.

Located in the Rosseau Centre, the Allen County HTCU is under the administration of the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The HTCU is also a digital forensic partnership with the Fort Wayne Police Department Digital Forensics Unit and Indiana Tech. HTCU digital forensic examiners, as well as student interns, are responsible for the collection, extraction, comparison, and analysis of digital devices and evidence for criminal cases. This is achieved through the use of industry standard digital forensic tools, such as Cellebrite, GrayKey, and Magnet AXIOM. The HTCU is not able to analyze digital evidence for any Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) investigations.
